Presidential candidate, the businessman also plans to return to Twitter, according to the American media NBC.

Back to square one? Donald Trump would actively seek to return to Facebook but also intends to relaunch on Twitter, according to information from the American media NBC. Regarding the first social network, his campaign team took care of claiming from the parent company Meta the reinstatement of the account, deleted since January 2021 with the invasion of the Capitol.

“We believe the banning of President Trump’s Facebook account has significantly distorted and inhibited public discourse,” Trump’s campaign team wrote in its letter to Meta on Tuesday, obtained by NBC.

The media specifies that the text does not mention any threat of prosecution but proposes a “meeting to discuss the rapid reinstatement of President Trump on the platform”.

The two-year ban actually expired at the beginning of January, but Meta is still reluctant to reinstate the account of the new candidate for the presidency of the United States. His case is currently being studied and will be decided by Nick Clegg, head of international affairs and communications at Facebook.

The Twitter dilemma

Regarding Twitter, the return of the controversial account would only be a matter of time. After taking office, Elon Musk decided to restore Trump’s account on November 20, also banned after the invasion of the Capitol. Except that the former president has still not reused his favorite network.

Still according to NBC, which quotes relatives of Trump, the latter is however impatient to return to it and his advisers are already working on the tweet of the big comeback. Problem, the businessman launched his own social network in May 2022, called Truth Social.

And as reminded the New YorkMagazine in May 2022, citing a financial document public, Donald Trump has made a commitment to his investors to put his publications on Truth Social exclusively online for six hours. In other words, Donald Trump could only replicate his messages with a long delay if he were to use Twitter. With, however, major exceptions for messages “of a political nature”, which could leave a gap for the former president to use other platforms.

Still, a return to Twitter would probably be the announced death of Truth Social in which he invested part of his money.
