Cellist Sol Gabetta and Kristian Bezuidenhout will kick things off on February 2nd.

Dornbirn. The very beginning of the “Dornbirn Klassik” concert series on February 2, 2023 promises to be one of the great highlights. With the cellist Sol Gabetta and her musical partner Kristian Bezuidenhout on the fortepiano, a duo that is in demand worldwide is on the stage of the Dornbirner Kulturhaus. Their culture of interpretation is regarded as exemplary and also inspires audiences in the large concert halls – whether in the Wiener Musikverein or the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

Works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Ferdinand Ries will be performed on this evening. It starts at 7.30 p.m. in the Kulturhaus Dornbirn. The program introduction will take place at 7 p.m. by Robert Schneider.

Noted world star

The Swiss cellist is a respected world star. The playing style of the Swiss cellist Sol Gabetta is characterized by gentleness and embodies pure elegance and grace. She has received numerous awards for her outstanding artistic work. In 2019 she received the OPUS Award for her interpretation of the Schumann Cello Concerto, in the previous years she had been awarded five ECHO Awards.

The Australian with South African roots Kristian Bezuidenhout is an exceptional soloist. He plays the fortepiano in an unmistakable way: expressive, yet romantic and so transparent that the attentive listener can really perceive everything in the music. As a harpsichordist, fortepiano player and pianist, he is valued worldwide in historical performance practice.
