According to human rights activists, at least 36 people were killed in an attack by the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) in Syria. Armed IS fighters attacked people while looking for truffles near the western city of Hama, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said today. Among the victims are 19 civilians and 17 members of a pro-government militia.

In the civil war country, truffle hunters are repeatedly victims of violence. IS followers regularly kill and kidnap people who want to earn money by collecting the valuable delicacy in the impoverished civil war country. The search also leads to remote desert areas, which serve as a retreat for extremists and are often mined.

According to the observatory, IS supporters have already killed more than 100 civilians in Syria this year alone. Years ago, IS controlled large areas in Syria and neighboring Iraq. In the meantime, the terrorists there have been defeated militarily. But they continue to carry out attacks.
