According to a new report from Insider Gaming, the release of the new “Dragon Age” game nicknamed Dreadwolf is probably a bit further in the future than previously thought. Many had expected the fourth part of the series to be released in mid or late 2023, but according to Tom Henderson, nothing will come of it. Although the game is still making progress, according to the insider, some important features that should make it into the finished game are still missing.
Multiplayer past and Destiny clone?
Dragon Age 4 was supposed to be some kind of multiplayer game. According to the new report, one would notice the past of the game. An insider revealed, “The game felt a bit like Destiny, with a central hub where players could probably regroup before heading out on new missions.”
Although it is now confirmed that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be a pure single player game, you would still notice the past in the game design. So there would also be a kind of hub in the current game through which players accept new missions.
Dreadwolf follows a similar gameplay structure as its predecessors in that you have to recruit and grow your crew that you can encounter while completing missions. The recruited crew will then populate the hub, where you can give them various gear and mods as the game progresses.
Dragon Age 4 release not before 2024?
So while the Bioware game continues to make progress, important things are still missing that are delaying the release. For example, numerous lines of dialogue for the characters would not be available and some features would not be fully integrated. Also, you would still notice old game elements like multiplayer support in the current version.
The development was partially restarted in 2021 and will probably not be completed for some time. Although it has been speculated that Dragon Age 4 will come later this year, that is now almost impossible.
In December we reported on the new trailer and at the time everything looked like the game was still waiting for us in 2023. However, it is much more likely that we will have to wait until 2024.
