For decades, dragonball has established itself as one of the fan-favorite manga, and as part of its 40th anniversary celebration, the Shueisha team started a project to honor the franchise. Akira Toriyama.

In this project, we’ve seen some of the best manga artists come by and they’re redoing their own covers for Dragon Ball to celebrate its 40th anniversary, which is why now, a new tribute has been released courtesy of the creator of gintama.

It is a piece that was recently launched thanks to Hideaki Sorachithe artist, best known for creating Gintama, and who now gave his own version of Dragon Ball until volume 19. After all, Sorachi redid the volume cover in his own style, and gives Goku a new hairstyle.

Obviously, the character is easy to identify due to his blue-orange gi, but the rest of the Goku it has been completely renovated. His muscular build looks lankier under Sorachi’s direction, and his features on his face are softer. Where the biggest change comes with Goku’s hair, with a look that still defies gravity, but has a lot more layers and depth.

Of course, Piccolo he also gets his own makeover, as the namekian looks pretty tough in this shot, and his red eyes are impossible to miss. Honestly, Sorachi makes the fighter look less like an alien and more like a human given his sharp nose and jaw. Toriyama always made Piccolo look otherworldly for a good reason, but Sorachi’s vision has its own advantages.

Now, the creator of Gintama can say that he has participated in one of the most important Dragon Ball projects to date. So far, some of the biggest names in the industry have contributed to the Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project. Since Tite Kubo until Masashi Kishimoto Y Tatsuki Fujimotothe best of the best have been recorded, and best of all, there are still more covers to come between now and November 2024, when the project is finished.
