This Saturday, the US Border Patrol carried out a dramatic rescue of drowning migrants in the Rio Grande, where the current became strong during a massive crossing and swept away women and children.

The Tactical Marine Unit (TMU) in Eagle Pass responded after a large group of immigrants attempted to cross the swollen river in a line and many of them were carried away by the current.

The images show the rescue of several women and children, and the agents applying techniques to numerous victims injured by immersion.

In some cases, a boat almost overwhelmed by the situation chose to drag several migrants to the bank of the tributary so that they could hold on to the roots of the trees and get to safety.

“Operators acted quickly by deploying personal flotation devices, removing women and children from the river, and conducting resuscitation efforts. Images and audio capture the volatile conditions involving mass illegal migration between ports of entry as they cross the unpredictable and dangerous Rio Grande,” Chris Olivarez, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, posted on Twitter.

One of the videos showed that several people were left in the water screaming and others were submerged and inert.

It has not been revealed whether any deaths were reported in this incident, as two women who received resuscitation techniques responded and were taken to a hospital, but several bodies remained in the water.

Some women implored the agents to save their children while they stayed in the water.

On November 11, a Colombian migrant who was barely 23 years old he lost his two young children after they were swept away by the current while trying to cross the Rio Grande.
