The tradition that began more than six decades ago at the now mythical corner of 10 and 40 added a new edition and was lived with the same passion as always under the motto “Don’t let the flame go out.” In total, as confirmed by the Municipality, 78 New Year’s dolls were burned in the city, with structures of all kinds, sizes and colors and, sadly, some recognized missing ones. The new year was received like this, as is customary, with hugs, applause and, of course, lots of fire.
From versions of the World Cup, Lionel Messi and Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez to huge sculptures of Ratatouille and The Simpsons, among many others, just after midnight and after the toast the first dolls began to burn in La Plata.
In the different corners and spaces prepared for days for the occasion, the fire and also the fireworks (which were heard during a good part of the early morning despite the current prohibition in the city and the rest of the region) were present to receive 2023.
In the streets of the city the recognized and always valid Spiderman, sponge Bob, kingkong, Monster Ink, The minions, sonic, Stitch, The Pink Panther, angry Birds, the Atomic Antthe Puss in Bootsthe animatronics Y Pokemon, among others. Within this framework, on Saturday afternoon the Municipality offered a series of distinctions to the most outstanding momos. In this way, the characters of the momo located at 8 and 78 bis (“The Legends of the Nordic”) stood out as the winners of the golden award, before the vote of a jury of specialists made up of historical doll makers, who visualized each one in detail. of the inscribed figures.
As for the remaining categories, the prize for the best “Scenography” went to “Fantastic Beasts” (133 between 41 and 42); in the item “Idea” the winner was “Stitch” (6 and 80); the distinction by “Termination” the momo took her “Animatronics” (77 between 136 and 137); while “Messi and the cup” (28 between 511 and 512) was awarded in the category to the “Creativity”.
