Driver hits 8 parked vehicles in a DC neighborhood

A driver crashed into several parked cars early Tuesday in northwest DC, causing one of them to roll onto the sidewalk, police said.

The dark-colored pickup truck crashed into about eight cars in the 600 block of Q Street in the Shaw neighborhood shortly before 4 am, the Metropolitan Police Department report said.

Araba Nit, the owner of a red car that flipped over, said her father caught her eye when he noticed her car was no longer where he had parked it.

“I heard a loud crash and I thought it was thunder or something. So I actually started to go back to sleep,” Nit recounted to our sister network News 4. “And then my dad came into my room and told me: you have to go out. Your car is wrecked.

DC police reported that the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. No additional information was immediately released.

No injuries were reported.

Tow trucks removed some of the damaged vehicles Tuesday morning.
