DuckDuckGo extensions are now capable of blocking Google login pop-ups, thus barring a major annoyance that users have every day, in addition to privacy, because as always, there is a tracking of what you do.

In case you didn’t know, DuckDuckGo is a company that focuses on user privacy and offers an email service, a browser and browser extensions. Your browser is currently in beta and is only available for macOS.

It was announced today by DuckDuckGo that all of their apps and extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Microsoft Edge browsers are now able to actively block the Google login pop-ups that appear on many websites.

It is common for Google to offer the option of single sign-on on websites so that the user can log in faster and have better management of their passwords. The platform aims to manage the passwords of different sites so that only a single click is needed to access the account of a site. However, there is the downside of Google tracking user activity, which collects a lot of data.

DuckDuckGo claims that although Google states that login data is not used for advertising or other purposes, tests carried out by the company have shown the opposite, reaching the conclusion that the search giant still collects data and uses it.

See our test in the attached image, which shows that Google is collecting data on websites when connected to Google. For example, on Investing.com, many requests are made to https://securepubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ads .

This includes the full page URL in the request parameters. In tests, if we are not connected to the site with Google, the DSID cookie sent with these requests will have a value of NO_DATA. If we are connected to the site with Google, the DSID cookie sent with these requests has a long hexadecimal value.

You can see this in the attached image – on the left we are connected to Google, on the right we are not connected to Google.
