Contrary to the title, Dünentod is not a thriller, it is a thriller series. There are rather few of them. It’s harder to do than a detective story. The question of “Where were you yesterday at 20:31?” you will hardly hear in this series. Dünentod offers the option to delve much more deeply into people, their lives. Death in the Dunes is like the music of Jaws or Ravel’s Bolero. Incessantly, incessantly, the tension increases. At the end of an episode, the viewer will be amazed at how deeply his fingers have dug into the back of the sofa.
The book series by Sven Koch, on which the films are based, includes four more volumes. Are the sequels already planned?
With me it is. The same with the production company. The only thing missing is the viewer and RTL. We can shoot two to four more films from late summer – and we want to do that too.
