Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: Algerian civil protection to the rescue

On February 6, a first contingent of 89 Civil Protection members was dispatched to Turkey on the orders of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to participate in relief operations following an earthquake in the south of the country near Syria.

Members of the Civil Protection will be on site to help those affected by the natural disaster, providing immediate assistance and working to stabilize the situation.

In addition, the president of the Algerian Red Cross, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, pointed out that 40 volunteers first aid experts have been dispatched to the affected areas. She mentioned that exchanges with the Syrian and Turkish Red Cross are ongoing to determine the assistance needs of the two countries.

Algerian rescuers very effective on the ground

Algerian civil protection forces continue to be at the forefront of relief operations by providing support to victims and are proving to be very effective. It should be noted that among the various countries which offered their humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the Algerian civil protection forces are in the lead.
