The assessment of the violent earthquake which struck Turkey but also Syria, at the dawn of this Monday, February 6, is becoming heavier and heavier. Latest figures put more than 1,500 dead between the two countries. New tremors took place.

In Syria, nearly 560 people lost their lives, while more than a thousand were injured. With regard to Turkey, the first provisional assessments reported more than 900 dead and 5,000 injured. In this wake, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke out following this violent earthquake.

Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: no casualties among Algerians

Following this strong earthquake which struck Turkey, but also the other neighboring regions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the establishment of a crisis cell for the benefit of members of the diaspora in Turkey and Syria. And this, in particular in collaboration with the embassies of Algeria in Ankara and Damascus, and the consulate general in Istanbul.

In this wake, in its press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reassures that no victim has been recorded among members of the diaspora in the two countries. Algerians established in Turkey and Syria are called upon to stay in contact with the services of the Algerian embassies in Ankara and Damascus. To do this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has set up toll-free numbers to reach the services concerned:

Moreover, through another press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Algeria expressed its full solidarity with the victims of the earthquake which struck Syria and Turkey. Following this devastating earthquake, the Algerian government would like to express its condolences to the families of the victims, but also to the peoples and governments of the two countries.
