Closed 1-1 tie between Ecuador and Uruguay in Palmaseca, for date 5 of group B of the CONMEBOL – Sub 20 Colombia 2023 tournament.

The locals began winning with a goal from Justin Cuero in the 12th minute of the first half, while Rodrigo Chagas equalized the game after a few minutes.

Uruguay came close to stretching the lead to a draw with a bombing by Luciano Rodríguez that hit the post, 85 minutes into the second stage.

With 13 against 3, Uruguay had more shots in the duel played in Palmaseca, but it was still not enough to take the victory.

With a dirty game, the game played between both teams stood out. There were 3 reprimands: Luis Córdova, Rodrigo Chagas, Juan Sánchez. Juan Sánchez was sent off after receiving his second yellow, in the 64th minute of the second half.

Ecuador’s technical director, Jimmy Bran, proposed a 4-4-2 strategy with Gilmar Napa in goal; Daniel De La Cruz, Luis Córdova, Davis Bautista and Yeltzin Erique on the defensive line; José Klinger, Denil Castillo, Juan Sánchez and Patrik Mercado in the middle; and Justin Cuero and Oscar Sosa in the attack.

For their part, those directed by Marcelo Broli stopped with a 4-4-2 scheme with Facundo Machado under the three sticks; Mateo Ponte, Valentín Gauthier, Mateo Antoni and Rodrigo Cabrera in defense; Matías Abaldo, Rodrigo Chagas, Ignacio Sosa and Juan Cruz De Los Santos in midfield; and Emiliano Rodríguez and Nicolás Siri up front.

The judge selected for the match in Palmaseca was Nicolás Lamolina.
