Finally he can breathe again.

Since the end of April, pop star Ed Sheeran (32) has had to defend himself against allegations of plagiarism in a court in New York. The Brit was accused of copying parts of the soul classic “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye († 44) and using them in his song “Thinking Out Loud”.

The jury’s verdict on Thursday: Sheeran didn’t write off.

The outcome of the process is not only a reason for joy for the exceptional artist himself. Sheeran’s fans should also be relieved. Because the 32-year-old had announced in court that he would no longer produce music if he was convicted. Sheeran has repeatedly stated that the process is a threat to all musicians who compose their own music.

The accusers were the heirs of producer Ed Townsend, who co-wrote Let’s Get It On with soul legend Marvin Gaye. Ed Sheeran has always vehemently denied the allegations of plagiarism.

In order to convince the jury, the musician had repeatedly picked up the guitar in court, according to media statements, to demonstrate how he composes his songs.
