The fact that Eintracht Frankfurt was able to extend goalkeeper Kevin Trapp to 2026 speaks volumes about the changed status of the SGE. While Eintracht has always had to watch helplessly as the top players have left the club year after year to finally win titles at other clubs, they have now managed to keep one of the coveted top performers.

The 32-year-old German international could have chosen his club. Manchester United is said to have been interested in him, as did FC Bayern Munich for a while. But because he believes in Eintracht’s sporting prospects, Trapp extended his contract in Frankfurt – and allegedly gave up a lot of money for it.

Instead of the previous 3.5 million euros, he now earns around 2.5 million euros a year, writes “Picture“. With premiums and bonus payments, Trapp can still come up to a total of 4 million euros. With his previous contract, a total of 4.7 million euros was possible through such additional payments.

The term of the working paper can also be extended by another year to 2027, reports “Bild”.

Kevin Trapp meets Frankfurt financially

Like many other clubs, Eintracht is feeling the effects of inflation and also the financial consequences of the ghost games during the corona pandemic. All clubs that don’t have financially powerful financiers behind them like Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain have to tighten their belts.

In the case of Trapp, the SBU is said to have made the goalkeeper’s salary cuts palatable with an interesting agreement.

Kevin Trapp waves at Eintracht all-time record

Trapp will take on another job at Eintracht after his professional career, reports “Bild”. Exactly which one is yet to be determined. It is clear, however, that the SGE binds him to an absolute identification figure. If the Europa League winner stays until 2027, he could overtake Eintracht legend Oka Nikolov. With 415 appearances so far, he is at the top of the club’s internal goalkeeper list, Trapp currently has 282.

Trapp had recently emphasized again and again how much he cares about harmony. In the course of his contract extension, he now also hinted that he wants to continue to help the club continue to soar in sporting terms. “Everyone knows how much this club means to me and that I feel at home in Frankfurt. I am happy that I will continue to be part of the Eintracht family. We have already experienced a lot together and still have a lot planned.”
