It was an inconspicuous duel that took place in Eintracht Frankfurt’s home game against Schalke (3-0) on Saturday. Despite the injury, the scene was not dramatic. As it turns out, however, it has long-term consequences.

Specifically, it’s about the 65th minute of the game: Éric Dina Ebimbe put the ball a little too optimistically past Schalke’s Jere Uronen and started to sprint. In the ensuing scuffle, Schalke fell unhappily onto his opponent and his foot buckled. As a result, he was substituted in the 70th minute.

At first, the Frankfurters were overjoyed at the 3-0 victory. Now it turns out: Éric Ebimbe was injured in the fall. After all, so unhappy that he has to have an operation on Monday. With drastic consequences: Coach Oliver Glasner and the Eintracht players will probably have to do without the Frenchman for a long time, as the club announced.
