Mexico City.- The Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, considered that it is disrespectful to say that there is a favorite for the presidential candidacy of Morena in 2024.
On a tour of Veracruz, where this Saturday he was received by Governor Cuitláhuac García, the foreign minister urged the national leadership of Morena to define the rules for conducting the survey.
For Ebrard, the party in government has a “very great ethical obligation”, since it must define the moment in which the interested parties must separate from office. “We can’t pretend,” he said.
“What is required? That the survey be true, the President has already said it, he said that it will be by survey, so it is Morena’s obligation to comply with that and they have made an exit, January, February, March, April, they have not called, I think it should be called, that’s what the president of the party said, that it be called and discuss face to face.
“Look at Veracruz, take a look, people love us and respect us. That someone is a favorite is a lack of respect for people because you have to ask people, one of two: either there is a poll or there is a favorite, no You can do both, and to find out if it is a favorite, you have to ask the people… or a favorite too,” said the Secretary of Foreign Relations.
Last December, Secretary Ebrard delivered a letter to the Morena leadership requesting that those interested in the 2024 presidential candidacy should leave office when the Morena leadership defines it, that public debates be held and that a single question be applied. to the respondents.
“What do we propose? That there be a separation of the position; a single question in the survey and that the survey be credible for everyone; and that there be a debate that allows us to know what the difference is between one and the other, what does everyone think about What is going to be done, security, development? How would we be different? Regardless of whether we are close, we already know that we are all close to Andrés, otherwise we would not be in this.
“And that nothing more is a question and people are asked: who do you want to represent the Fourth Transformation? And that’s it. Because the system they are using is very confusing,” Ebrard considered.
