The Selecta de Playa defeated Guadeloupe 10-1 in the second game of the 2023 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship that takes place in Nassau, Bahamas. This result ensures him a place in the quarterfinals for the ninth time in this type of tournament; tomorrow they will define positions in group A when they face Costa Rica.
Two minutes of play had elapsed when Jason Urbina opened the scoring for El Salvador, in what was the first of four goals that led to his signature and that put him as the tournament’s scoring leader with a total of six goals.
A few minutes later, Rogelio Rauda, the most rookie in the group, made it 2-0 with a powerful forehand from mid-distance that left the Guadeloupean goalkeeper without options. With this score, the Selecta playera closed the first period.
From then on, the game was dominated at will by the cuscatlecos, who found in the Jason Urbina-Exon Perdomo formula the best of the scoring associations. Between the two pivots they contributed six of the 10 goals for the blue and white.
Urbina received a pass from Perdomo in the rival area, lowered his chest, took out the goalkeeper and a defender and alone defined the 3-0 run. The fourth and fifth goals for the blue team were scored by Perdomo: the first was scored as a Chilean after a spectacular acrobatics and in the second, loaned out by Urbina, he controlled, removed the rival goalkeeper’s mark and defined.
The harvest of five goals in the second period was completed by Rauda and Andrés Osorio. The first scored his second goal of the game after a long pass from Elmer Robles, and defined first against the rival frame to make it 6-0. The seventh Salvadoran goal was signed by Osorio, who scored one of the most beautiful goals of the match after receiving a throw-in from Heber Ramos on his chest, dominated it and from Chile he slipped the ball into the upper left corner of the rival goal .
Goals number eight and number nine of the match were scored by Urbina and Ramos, respectively. With this 9-0 advantage, the national team suffered the score by Guadeloupe after a confusion in the defense that Gary André took advantage of to score the only goal for the Caribbeans in the match.
The last goal of the game, which sealed the Cuscatleca win, was a new combination between Perdomo and Urbina that left the latter in front of goalkeeper Cesaire Amadiah and defined with a low shot that passed between the goalkeeper’s legs.
With this victory, El Salvador secures the qualification to the quarterfinals together with Costa Rica, since both add six points in two games. La Selecta playera is the leader of group A by goal difference.
“Thank God for the opportunity to practice what we like. Today we face a level team, which has evolved little by little, we did our job and we have qualified as a result”, Urbina declared at the end of the game.
Tomorrow, the Cuscatleca team will face the Tico team in the duel that will define the first place in the group.
“Costa Rica is one of the teams we already know, they are a great team. We always prepare ourselves to face anyone; tomorrow we will look for first place, which is why we have come here”, said the striker.
