From 6000 euros in 2022, the maximum ecological bonus must drop to 5000 euros in 2023. But it will also be raised at the same time for the 50% of the most modest French people.
What aid will buyers of electric cars be able to benefit from in 2023? While the maximum ecological bonus was to drop from 6,000 to 5,000 euros on June 30, 2022, this amount was finally maintained until December 31.
A bonus “for all” which drops to 5000 euros
From January 1, 2023, this aid will therefore drop to 5,000 euros for a new 100% electric vehicle purchased for less than 47,000 euros. For vehicles sold between 47,000 and 60,000 euros, the subsidy, hitherto 2,000 euros, will increase to 1,000 euros.
The bonus for electric light commercial vehicles will remain at 7,000 euros.
On the other hand, 2023 should mark the end of the bonus for plug-in hybrid vehicles with at least 50 kilometers of autonomy and sold at a maximum of 50,000 euros, which could benefit from a 1,000 euro bonus.
Few details on the bonus 7000 euros
But in a period when the French are invited to change cars for a newer and less polluting model, this reduction in the bonus could be surprising.
Emmanuel Macron had therefore wished to accompany this measure with an increase in the bonus for the French who would need it the most.
“Because we want to make the electric car accessible to everyone, we are even going to increase the ecological bonus from 6000 to 7000 euros for half of the households, the most modest”, he had declared in an interview with Les Echos published at the opening. of the last Paris Motor Show.
Second-hand bonus, conversion bonus… the big blur
Since October, no details have been released on this specific measure. The same applies to the development of other schemes such as the conversion bonus or the bonus for used vehicles, for which dedicated pages on official websites public service were not updated a few hours before the start of the new year.
While many French cities must introduce a low-emissions zone over the next few years, and therefore reduce the circulation of the most polluting vehicles, it is however difficult to imagine a drop in the conversion premium. The latter makes it possible to recover up to 5000 euros against the scrapping of an old vehicle, in addition to the ecological bonus.
Same thing for the bonus for used electric cars: its amount of 1000 euros should in any case not decrease while this market is also developing more and more.
