Energy Minister Mohammed Arkab is considering the installation of 1000 charging stations by 2025. In addition, the Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zaghdar, declared in February 2022 that Algeria aims to embark on the manufacture of electric and hybrid cars.

Sonelgaz charging stations: Where to find them? What charging time? How many kilometers?

It is the National Electricity and Gas Company that will gradually install these terminals. Sonelgaz will play an important role in the promotion of this technology in Algeria. The award of the project to the company dates from January 2023. A national and international call for tenders will soon be launched.

200 to 300 charging points will soon be available. They will position themselves on the motorway rest areas, then on the country’s major highways. These are the words of Khalil Hedna, spokesperson for Sonelgaz, on Radio Sétif. The power supply terminals will comply with international standards. Thus, a quality service will be made available to citizens.

These terminals will also be located in the large surface car parks. Electric vehicles will be recharged at Naftal service stations, which will be equipped with the latest technologies. This will supply his car with electricity at saturation in less than 30 minutes. Moreover, the Sonelgaz manager said that a full recharge will suffice to cover the distance of 300 KM.
