Electric scooter program expanded in Queens

The city government is looking to expand its shared-use electric scooter program to parts of Queens starting next month.

The expansion will span approximately 20 square miles from Flushing and Auburndale to Rochdale Village and Springfield Gardens.

It will provide access to electric scooters to about 600,000 residents, according to the city’s Department of Transportation.

The stations for these scooters will be installed between early and mid-June and the program will launch at the end of June.

The agency initially piloted the program in the East Bronx in 2021.

Since then, more than 157 thousand users have made almost four million trips on these scooters.
