With so-called tasers, police officers took action against attackers in two cases in Brandenburg/Havel and in Havelsee. Four emergency workers were slightly injured in an operation, according to the police.
With the taser, which shoots small arrows, a perpetrator is rendered incapable of action for several seconds via an electrical impulse. Police officers should be able to keep an attacker at a distance without fatally injuring him. The use of these stun guns was expanded in Brandenburg. Last October, however, there was the first death in connection with a Taser operation in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Forces attacked with punches and kicks
Early on Sunday morning, the police, who had been alerted because of loud screaming, gained access to an apartment in the old town of Brandenburg an der Havel. A 34-year-old suddenly attacked the emergency services with punches and kicks, the police said. In order to overwhelm the 34-year-old, a distance electric impulse device – i.e. a taser – was used.
The man fell to the ground and was fixed, the police said. He came to a specialist clinic. Four officers were slightly injured by the man’s attack. It was not yet known why the 34-year-old behaved so aggressively. A preliminary alcohol and drug test was negative.
The police, who were called because of an argument, also used a taser in the not too far away town of Pritzerbe – part of the town of Havelsee. Emergency services met a drunk man in a house on Saturday morning, who insulted the police officers and physically attacked them. He is also said to have shouted anti-constitutional slogans.
“To avert danger, the man should finally be taken out of the house,” it said. But he resisted massively and attacked the officers with kicks and headbutts, it said. The police then threatened the man several times with the Taser. When he couldn’t be stopped, the officers used the device and were finally able to tie him up. An alcohol test revealed 1.59 per thousand in the man who also came to a specialist clinic. (dpa)
