The Provincial Institute of Statistics and Censuses published a report this week that provides encouraging data for the tourism sector in the province of Santa Fe.

The number of hotel and para-hotel establishments increased in February, compared to the same month in 2022, by 28.6% in the city of Santa Fe and 28.9% in Rosario. In Rafaela there were no variations.

24,444 available rooms or units were registered in the city of Santa Fe, 16.1% more than in February 2022; 10,668 in Rafaela, which showed a year-on-year drop of 4.3%, and 78,736 in Rosario, representing 6.2% more than in the same month of the previous year.

In February 2023, occupied rooms decreased in the city of Santa Fe (11.0%) and Rosario (6.4%) and increased in Rafaela (6.5%) compared to the previous month. In addition, interannual increases are evident in Santa Fe (39.2%) and Rafaela (41.8%), while Rosario presented a fall of 11.3%.

The room occupancy rate was 45.7% in the city of Santa Fe, 26.9% in Rafaela, and 40.8% in Rosario; with positive annual variations of 7.6 percentage points in Santa Fe and 8.8 pp in Rafaela; and 8.1 pp of negative annual variation in Rosario.

The 59,612 available places registered in the city of Santa Fe exhibited a decrease of 6.4% compared to the previous month. Rafaela, with a total of 25,648 available places, showed a monthly drop of 11.3%. Meanwhile, in Rosario, the 176,484 registered beds accumulated a decrease of 6.4% in relation to January 2023. In year-on-year variations, Santa Fe (15.8%) and Rosario (8.6%) exhibited increases, while Rafaela had negative annual variation (-2.2%).

The occupied places in the city of Santa Fe represented 37.3% more tourists than in the same period of the previous year, the occupied places of Rafaela increased 34.9% in the interannual comparison and those of Rosario decreased by 11, 9% in the same period.

Domestic and international flights

Sauce Viejo-Santa Fe Airport and Rosario “Islas Malvinas” International Airport increased the number of passengers on flights in the province by 43.7% during March 2023 compared to the same month of the previous year. The city of Santa Fe registered 5,993 passengers, showing an increase of 46.2% compared to the previous month, and Rosario, with 36,811 passengers, a monthly drop of 2.7%.

The number of passengers on domestic flights registered was 30,738 in March 2023, which implied an increase of 4.0% compared to the previous month. The number of passengers registered on international flights was 12,066, a figure that presented a monthly decrease of 2.6%.

In March, the composition of flights by origin of passengers transported at airports in the province of Santa Fe was made up of 14% Santa Fe and 86% Rosario.

72% of passengers transported during March did so on domestic flights, while passengers who flew to international destinations represented the remaining 28%.
