Expected for the month of May, Endless Dungeon is developed by Amplitude Studios. But this one has bad news for gamers.

In October 2014, the independent studio Amplitude released an excellent title mixing tower defense and roguelite on PC. Given the success of this Dungeon of the Endless, Amplitude has decided to export it to other platforms. Today, its reputation is such that a spiritual sequel is about to see the light of day: Endless Dungeon. Or rather should we write “prepared”, in view of the latest information that has reached us.

We were so close to the goal…

This week, Amplitude Studios shared a statement on their Twitter account. Unfortunately, this one is not intended to share a new nun, quite the contrary. We learn that the decision was made to postpone Endless Dungeon, yet initially scheduled for May 18. The goal for the studio is to balance their game both in terms of gameplay and in-game economy between the different resources to accumulate. It remains to be hoped that the result will be there since we will now have to wait until October 19!

With the May 18 launch date fast approaching, we as a team reflect on the state of ‘Endless Dungeon’. We want to provide the best possible roguelite experience for our community, and we believe there is still work to be done to make that happen.

For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the launch to October 19, 2023. This will give us more time to integrate community feedback to make the game as great as it can be. during this additional time we will be working on meta progression, balancing, in-game economy, as well as a ton of refinements and bug fixes.

If we understand the studio’s desire to refine its game, we are still worried about such a massive postponement decided so late. But after all, that’s probably better than a broken game when it comes out, right?

Endless Dungeon, a very promising roguelite

While Dungeon of the Endless was an independent game, its sequel is much more ambitious. Much more beautiful, a priori longer… It can above all count on the financial support of Sega, its publisher. Once again playable alone or in cooperation, Endless Dungeon offers several playable character classes that seduced us during our preview in early April. We then noted that the title is particularly demanding and that if collaborating with bots is perilous, the adventure becomes much more pleasant in cooperation with other players. The builds also seem particularly numerous, given all the unlockable upgrades during the game. Endless Dungeon even includes a fairly extensive lore, with reading on the program for the most curious. Its mixture of genres, finally, between roguelite and tower defense, makes the game attractive to a wide audience.

Appointment on May 18 October 19, 2023 on PC, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch!
