Am 13. June 2023 will be this year’s winners Energy Globe Award Austria in at the KURIER SpeakOut Festival in Vienna. The Energy Globe Award is the most prestigious environmental award in the world, which is awarded every year in more than 180 countries.
The award ceremony in the MQ Libelle will focus on projects energy efficiency, sustainability and use renewable energies awarded. The aim is to identify solutions to environmental problems. The “World Prize for Sustainability” is divided into the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and youth awarded. In Austria there is also the special category “sustainable community“.
6 different categories
In the category “Earth” Projects are awarded that promote the careful use of resources and raw materials, “Feuer” stands for renewable energies and the sustainable use of energy. In the category “Water” is about drinking water treatment, irrigation or waste water disposal.
Projects of the category “Luft” deals with avoiding emissions and improving air quality. The “youth” category is reserved for projects carried out by and with children or young people.
In the special category “Sustainable Community”. green community projects excellent. Last year’s winner, the municipality of Wald im Pinzgau, was honored for its new crystal pool, which is supplied almost exclusively with regional energy all year round. Ab 19. More than 2,000 projects worldwide
The Energy Globe was first published in year 2000 awarded. It is awarded annually as a regional, national and international award. Both small and large projects can be submitted. The feasibility in other contexts and regions is important. More than 2,000 projects are now submitted worldwide every year.
The founding idea of the award is based on the fact that we environmental issues of our time have already found solutions in many areas. These are often local, little marketed and not widely known. The central contribution of the Energy Globe Awards is to bring these important solutions “in front of the curtain”. The award was brought into being by the Austrian energy pioneer Wolfgang Neumanwho initiated the energy saving trade fair in Wels in 1985.
