The municipal workers gathered in the Festram start a 48-hour strike this Thursday throughout the provincial territory to demand the urgent updating of family allowances and the regularization of health services provided by the Iapos social work.

The Federation of Municipal Workers Unions (Festram) made the decision to strike for 48 hours due to the lack of progress in joint negotiations with local government representatives.

The meeting was held last week in which the representatives of the workers and local governments and the Undersecretary of Integration and Institutional Strengthening of the province of Santa Fe, Carlos Kaufmann, met. There, the need to advance in the demand for the urgent update of family allowances and the regularization of health services provided by the Iapos social work was raised.

According to the Festram statement, “the representatives of mayors and communal presidents did not transfer any proposal related to the claim for Family Allowances carried out by this Federation.”

Faced with this situation and in accordance with the powers granted by the plenary session of general secretaries on April 12, the joint representatives of Festram decided to adopt forceful measures that consist of a strike of activities throughout the provincial territory for Thursday 27 and Friday 28th of April.

Festram hopes that mayors and communal presidents transfer to the joint table a proposal that allows to overcome the current conflict, since all the areas of negotiation attempted have not allowed progress in concrete solutions for the Municipal and Community Workers of the entire Province, who need a urgent response to a process of loss of income such as the one that occurs in the current social context.
