The dog responsible for the girl’s death was killed by the police for security reasons.

A four-year-old child died in England on Tuesday after being attacked by a dog, reports several British media including Sky News.

Police officers were called by the emergency services to intervene around 5 p.m. (6 p.m. in France) in Milton Keynes (Buckinghamshire) in the south-east of the country. They were informed that a dog had attacked a child in the garden of a property. The young girl died shortly after the events.

The animal killed “with humanity”

The dog, whose breed was not disclosed, was shot dead by police officers for public safety reasons. No other victim is to be deplored and the family of the dead child is receiving psychological support. No arrests have yet been made by law enforcement.

Thames Valley Police Chief Matt Bullivant spoke of “an absolutely tragic incident” without revealing the exact circumstances of the tragedy.

He also justified the killing of the dog involved “which was done humanely”.
