Due to the enormous demand, the housing advice centers in eastern Austria are being increased. Social Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) announced this today.

He again appealed to those affected to seek help in good time in order to be able to prevent a loss of housing in the face of rising prices. Measures against child poverty are also to be presented this week. One will help “precisely and without watering can”, so Rauch.

Since the start of the living screen, which is intended to protect against evictions, in March 2022, the arrears for more than 3,600 households with more than 8,300 people have been taken over. Around 430 households were helped to move to a cheaper apartment. A total of around twelve million euros were paid out for this.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, around 2,900 households and 7,800 people have received help with electricity and heating costs totaling around six million euros since the expansion of the living umbrella to include energy cost support in January 2023.
