LONDON

In his long-awaited book of memoirs, Prince Harry tells that he was attacked by his brother William – heir to the British throne – during an argument, that he used cocaine at the age of 17 and killed 25 people during his military missions in Afghanistan.

Entitled “Spare” (“In the shadow” in Spanish), the autobiography will be released worldwide on January 10, in a context of strong tension within the British royal family.

However, some media such as the British newspaper The Guardian had access to it in advance. And others procured it by taking advantage of the fact that for a few hours it was accidentally put up for sale yesterday by the Spanish bookstore Casa del Libro, which quickly withdrew the copies after realizing the error.

In the book, Enrique, 38, recounts a dispute in 2019 in London during which Guillermo called the former American actress Meghan Markle, whom the youngest son of Carlos and Diana de Gales had married a year earlier, as “difficult to ”, “rude” and “rough”.

“He grabbed me by the collar (of the shirt), ripped it off and threw me to the ground. I landed on the dog bowl, which broke under my back, the pieces cut me,” she explains.

As Enrique writes, the incident occurred when the now Prince of Wales, William, appeared at “Nottingham Cottage”, his house located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, to discuss the problems with the press. After the discussion and the attack, Guillermo returned with a remorseful face and “apologised.”

As Guillermo was leaving, according to his brother, “he turned around and knocked on the door again: ‘You don’t need to tell Meg about this.'” Enrique claims that he did not tell his wife right away, but he did call her therapist.

According to Enrique, he told Meghan what happened when she noticed “scratches and bruises” on his back. Enrique says that she was “not that surprised or that angry”, but “terribly sad”.

Enrique’s resentment at being the “spare” (the second son in the shadows) is the unifying theme of his book, through chapters on his childhood, upbringing, career as a royal and in the military. British, his relationship with his parents and brother and his life with Meghan, notes “The Guardian”.

Enrique and Meghan decided to leave the Royal House at the beginning of 2020 and settled in the US. The couple lives in California with their two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.5 years old.

“I CONSUMED SOME STRIPES”

In the book, the prince also admits that he used cocaine at the age of 17. “At someone’s house, during a hunting weekend, they offered me a ray, and since then I have eaten a few more,” he explains according to Sky News. “It wasn’t very funny (…) but it made me feel different,” the channel’s website cites, which also echoes how Enrique lost his virginity in “a humiliating episode with a big woman” who treated him like a “young stallion”.

The prince also admits, without “fear of that number”, that he killed 25 “Taliban” when he was deployed as a helicopter pilot in Afghanistan, considering his targets as “chess pieces”, according to the Daily Telegraph.

And even that the now King Charles III made “sadistic” jokes about Enrique’s “real” father, who grew up among rumors about his resemblance to the older James Hewitt, lover of his mother, Princess Diana, according to Page Six. Buckingham Palace, which has been preparing for the release of the explosive memoir for months, did not comment on what was leaked yesterday.
