The TikTok voting for a place in the show “Eurovision Song Contest 2023 – Our Song for Liverpool” is over: Ikke Hipgold was able to prevail with 52% of the votes. A total of 121,564 votes were cast in the TikTok voting. On March 3rd, Ikke Hipgold will be on stage alongside Will Church, Frida Gold, Patty Gurdy, Lord Of The Lost, René Miller, Anica Russo, Lonely Spring and TRONG at the German ESC preliminary round in Cologne. One of the nine acts will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 13 in Liverpool.

For the first time in the history of the ESC, musicians had the opportunity to apply for the preliminary round directly via TikTok using the hashtag #UnserLiedFürLiverpool. More than 900 videos were submitted. From January 27 to February 3, the TikTok community was able to vote among the six top acts selected by NDR to see who would receive the place in the preliminary round.

About Ikke Hipgold:

Matthias Distel (46) aka Ikke Hipgold is the founder of the record company Summerfield Records. He writes and produces party hits. First of all, the native of Hesse got into rock music. In 2009, Distel created the fictional character Ikke Hipgold in response to a friend who claimed he couldn’t write a Ballermann hit. In Mallorca it became a cult in the Bierkönig from 2011. He made his first leap into the German charts in 2014 with the song “So geht die Gauchos”. With the chart number “I’m still swaying” he is currently celebrating his greatest success. The song has been streamed almost 35 million times on Spotify. As the producer of “Layla” (DJ Robin & Schürze), he wrote music history in 2022: The controversial song was number 1 in the charts for nine weeks and became the most successful single of the year. “Song with good lyrics” can be read as an ironic answer and is a Mallorca song in the classic sense: catchy “Schalalala” choirs, techno beats and lots of partying.
