Sebastian Schindzielorz switched from VfL Bochum to Wolfsburg at the start of the season and has now explained the reasons. In an interview with ‘kicker’, the 44-year-old stressed: “I wanted to start something new for myself. Of course there are some differences, especially when it comes to infrastructure. The Ruhrstadion is great, but it’s also showing its age, the training opportunities here in Wolfsburg are completely different. It’s a whole different level here.”

In Wolfsburg, the former Bundesliga professional holds the post of sports director. Previously in Bochum he was the sports director. “Our ambition is to be regularly represented internationally”, says Schindzielorz. Despite greater financial resources in Wolfsburg “are the challenges the same”, stated Schindzielorz with regard to the transfer policy. Next Saturday (3:30 p.m.) the 44-year-old will meet his former employer in the Bundesliga with his current employer and is looking forward to seeing old friends again.
