TSG Hoffenheim is currently going downhill. In the past eleven games, the Kraichgauer have only managed to win one game. After a promising start to the season, TSG slipped down to 13th place at the end of the first half of the season. Only three points separate coach André Breitenreiter’s team from the relegation zone where VfL Bochum is currently standing.

To stop the downward trend, the club is now investing in new players. In the short time since the turn of the year, Hoffenheim has already signed two newcomers: striker Kasper Dolberg came from FC Sevilla, central defender John Anthony Brooks from Benfica Lisbon.

Hoffenheim buys experience

TSG hopes that the eternal talent Dolberg will finally be able to tap the potential that many experts have been certifying for the now 25-year-old for years. Brooks, on the other hand, who has 216 Bundesliga games for Hertha BSC and VfL Wolfsburg under his belt, should enrich the insecure TSG team with experience and leadership.

Above all, the Hoffenheim team, who have a good quality team, have been lacking in serenity again and again. Avoidable dropouts have cost the team a lot of points this season. TSG carelessly gave up games like the recent ones at Union Berlin and against Stuttgart, sometimes suddenly losing the thread completely.

In addition to Brooks, another veteran should bring stability to the Hoffenheim game.

We’re talking about Thomas Delaney. The Dane, who played one year for Werder Bremen and three years for Borussia Dortmund, is set to be loaned out for the remainder of the season, reports the “table football“. The 31-year-old has not been able to gain a foothold at his current club, FC Sevilla: the central midfielder has only made eight appearances this season.

Transfer expert and “Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg expects that the change could take place at the end of January. “Delaney has already said yes to Hoffenheim! He already wants to switch to TSG,” writes Plettenberg on Twitter.

With Delaney, the Kraichgauers not only want to bring experience and stability to the team, but also compensate for the loss of regular player Grischa Prömel. He is currently out with a broken ankle. Coach André Breitenreiter does not expect Prömel to make a comeback before March.
