The mayor of San Salvador, Mario Durán, reiterated that the self-employed merchants who joined Phase 3 of the Revitalization Plan for the Historic Center of San Salvador, and freed up 68 blocks, will be relocated to the Ex-Library Municipal Market that will be built in the municipal property cleared.

“The market will be built over the course of the next two years, we would start the process this year so that it can be fully executed later. It will be well decorated, with green areas on the façade, it will have 4 floors, as well as parking and a rooftop”advanced the mayor.

The market will be built on the land located between Delgado Street and 1st East Street, and between 6th North Avenue and 8th South Avenue, in front of the former Cuartel market.

“This market is going to welcome all the sellers who are moving. The building will have several levels for businesses by category such as kitchen, clothing stores, among others. Each trader will have their space. The ex-Library market will be a reference for all people who wish to do their shopping”, Duran assured.

Meanwhile, the self-employed traders who voluntarily mobilized will resume their activities in the Tinneti market, after completing the administrative process for the assignment of temporary stalls, where they will have dignified, clean, and safe conditions.
