Brazil has just won another electric car factory. The national startup Hitech Elétrica inaugurated a 10,000 m² plant in the city of Campo Largo, 30 km from Curitiba, in Paraná. Zero emission SUVs and commercial vehicles will be produced at the site.

According to Hitech, this factory will have the first 100% electric utility and commercial vehicle production line in the country, as other startups have plants with local production, but of other models and with different techniques. They are mini trucks, VUCs (Urban Cargo Vehicles) and even autonomous units for deliveries.

To reach this stage in the business, the company relied on strong investment from Positivo Tecnologia, a company also headquartered in Paraná that manufactures computers and other technological items. This contribution, whose value was not disclosed, is part of the Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) program, created by the company to invest in potential startups.

“The launch of the assembly line and the opening of a brand new factory consolidates an ambitious project and generates countless opportunities for the electromobility industry to develop in Brazil”, comments Rodrigo Contin, CEO of Hitech Electric, in a statement sent to the canaltech with exclusivity.

Another partner of Hitech in the manufacture of its cars is the Brazilian multinational Weg, which will supply the engines and batteries for the models manufactured at this plant.

Beginning of activities and operational capacity

According to Hitech, the beginning of vehicle assembly on the new production line and factory will take place in March. The first batch of electric utility vehicles and compact trucks will start to be delivered in the same month. This plant has an initial capacity to produce 50 electric vehicles per month.

In a second moment, the capacity could be increased to 100 units and, in the future, to 1,000 monthly electric utilities.

How much do Hitech electric electric cars cost?

On Hitech’s official website, it is possible to see very clearly the models for sale by the company, which include trucks, utility vehicles and cars programmed for the “last mile”, that is, with limited range and performance functions and aimed at service.

Among the highlights is the e.coCargo truck, a model with a trunk of up to 7m³, autonomy between 80km and 240km and a maximum speed of 70km/h. The price of this vehicle starts at R$ 125,420.

There is also the e.coTech4 electric car, a subcompact model for small displacements. It has a maximum autonomy of 160km and can carry up to 4 passengers at a maximum speed of up to 70km/h. The price of this model starts at R$ 119,980.
