Algerian products are known and recognized throughout the world, especially those from agriculture. This is the case of the date, in particular the famous “Deglet Nour” which is exported to dozens of countries and which is known for its quality and exceptional taste.
Trade Minister Kamel Rezig stressed the need to intensify efforts to protect Algerian dates and gain greater foreign market shares, pointing out that Algerian dates occupy a leading position in terms of quality.
Today, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, on the sidelines of the launch of open house activities on the export of dates and their derivatives, Rezig said that Algerian dates occupy the leadership in terms of quality and competitive prices, and this as they are currently exported to 74 countries and this is expected to increase to 150 countries by the end of 2024, reaching $250 million in exports. Specifying the abundant national production of this product, which is estimated at more than 1.2 million tons per year.
Trade minister aims to double number of date exporters by 2024
The Minister also revealed that the number of date exporters increased to 365 in the first ten months of the current year, calling for the need for joint and coordinated action to develop this sector in terms of production, value and export of dates. Which has high competitive and differential capabilities to win greater foreign market shares. He said that Deglet Nour is 100% Algerian and that no country in the world has the quality of Algerian dates.
To conclude, the Minister of Trade revealed that the Deglet Nour and its derivatives will be distributed to all the consulates of the countries which are not exported to introduce the Algerian product there, and he added: “It is an autonomous manufacturing industry. We are going to develop this division through export.
The Deglet Nour conquers the United States
Deglet Nour is very successful on the American continent, more precisely in the USA and Canada, where demand continues to increase.
Indeed, the site specializing in agricultural products “Fresh Plaza”, revealed that the demand for this Algerian product has increased by 600 tons compared to the same period last year. It must therefore be concluded that North America is very fond of this Algerian product.
