Raleigh, NC.- The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) announced a change to the Project Access COVID Tests (Project ACT) program that will allow all families in the state to request free home COVID tests. -19 until June 30, 2023.

Access to free testing is expected to change with the end of the public health emergency, but partnering with Project ACT helps us continue to provide this access, especially to households that may have limited access to healthcare.said Susan Kansagra, MD, Director of the NCDHHS Division of Public Health.

IMPORTANT

Each household will receive two kits with five tests per kit, usually within a week of order. Households can reorder tests once a month for the duration of the program.

NCDDHS has already distributed 383,390 tests to North Carolina families through Project ACT.

Tests quickly help people know when to stay home and when to seek treatmentKansagra said.

Once limited to specific ZIP codes, all North Carolina households can now request free COVID-19 tests through: AccessCovidTests.org

RECOMMENDATIONS

NCDHHS recommends getting tested if you have symptoms or have been in close contact with a person with COVID-19, even if you are up to date on your vaccinations.

“Check the expiration date on your test before using it. If the date has passed, the test may still be appropriate to use,” NCDHHS said.
