I am at sunset. In delicate health and getting tired right away. I no longer have projects. I sleep a lot, I read everything, I pray for my sins, I walk little, I eat a lot, I follow current affairs in detail, I go to concerts, dinners, conferences…, and I wait for the end, like everyone else”. That is how forceful the once famous father Apelles has responded in an interview to The Spanishwhere he has chatted about his current vital moment.

“Television has changed a lot and so have I. I I’m already retired and finishedalthough once a month I record interviews for a channel that is seen in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands that I have taken as a little fun ”, he adds.

After three decades of debuting on television, he remembers his beginnings as “very exciting”, but he believes that it has evolved for the worse. Of course, he would agree to describe what he was doing as “trash TV” “as long as it is recognized that we live immersed in garbage politics, garbage cinema, garbage literature… In any case, it is still an elitist label because, in fact, the majority of the viewers at a specific moment opted mainly for a certain type of programs”.

About the end of ‘Save me’

Asked if Rocío Carrasco had anything to do with the end of Save me, has denied it. “The program lasted many years, the formula was exhausted long ago and the tastes of the viewers change. Anyway I don’t think they will easily find another formula for success. I have never wanted to pronounce myself on any aspect of the life of my friend Rocío. I love her very much and everything she has had to go through hurts me. I hope that one day she gets to be something happy ”.

But, in addition to having Rocío Jurado’s daughter as a friend, her facet as a famous person has opened the doors for her to have contact with more well-known faces, something that she confesses that she loves. “I have always loved parties. The years that I lived in Madrid were wonderful. In Rome there are other types of events, but they are also very nice. I’ve had a good time with a lot of people.”

I haven’t met many characters in a while. I don’t even know the new ones. I like the usual ones like Plácido Domingo, Teresa Berganza, Julio Iglesias, Susanna Griso, Rafa Nadal, Sonsoles Onega, Norma Duval, Father Ángel and, of course, Rocío”, he adds.
