It was shocking news for FC Bayern: Shortly after the German national team left the World Cup in Qatar, goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer was seriously injured. He just wanted to clear his head after the World Cup. However, his vacation ended abruptly – with a serious skiing accident.
The 36-year-old fractured his tibia and fibula. Fierce for Neuer, the entire team and the club bosses. The goalkeeper recently had an operation and is currently on a mandatory break. While he works on his regeneration, the Bayern bosses face a difficult task.

Those responsible around Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić are currently trying everything to sign a suitable replacement. For them, Neuer’s failure in the second half of the season is a “disaster”.
Even more difficult: Apparently you don’t want to go into the second half of the season with Sven Ulreich as goalkeeper. However, finding a suitable representative proves to be a mammoth task. Now there are indications that the situation could be even worse than initially assumed.
Longer new failure not excluded
Shortly after the operation, it was said from those close to Manuel Neuer that he wanted to be back on the pitch preparing for the new season. However, it remains questionable whether this is realistic. How “sports 1” reported, there are fears within the club that this goal is too optimistic.
The five-time world goalkeeper could be out longer, so the fear. Although the hope for a quick comeback in the next season is great. However, no one can rely on that.
That forces the Bayern bosses to act.
Because the prognosis for the 36-year-old may be worsened by a previous injury: Neuer had already suffered a metatarsal fracture. Because of the high stress involved in jumping movements, the goalkeeper apparently needs more recovery time.

Club bosses are looking for a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer
The decision-makers at the record champions are not only looking for a suitable replacement as quickly as possible, they also want to offer them a longer-term contract if possible. As “Sport 1” reports, talks with Bayern’s desired goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach are said to have been about a contract period of up to two and a half years.

Due to the lack of planning security, the Bayern bosses cannot take the five-time world goalkeeper into account. Finally, it is unclear when Neuer will be back on the pitch. It is also uncertain whether the 36-year-old will find his way back to his old top form.
