FC Dallas coach warns that they want to be "the bad guys in Messi's MLS story"

The arrival of Lionel Messi has revolutionized the entire sport in the United States, even his own rivals face it in a different way. Such is the case of the coach of FC Dallas, Inter Miami’s next rival, who issued a warning to the Argentine star and all his teammates.

“We will try to be the bad guys in Messi’s history in the MLS”launched the Spanish DT Nicolás Estévez in an interview for DSportsRadio, prior to the confrontation this Sunday night at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas

Estévez knows Messi from his time at Valencia in Spain: “I have known Messi since I was 16 years old. I have seen him since he was at Barcelona. The best way to stop it is to catch a cold and not be able to travel“, he ironized.

When asked about the way to stop the Argentine and defeat Inter Miami, the DT argued: “Our way will be to attack. There are phases of the game that we want the ball to reach as little as possible or in the least good way. When he receives, we have to expect the unexpected, we will have to be very close together and close the gaps”.

“We are very happy, waiting for that day to come to play. Although we know that the team that Messi is in is always a favorite“He responded about the possible winner of the duel.

Admiration in Texas for Messi

Dan Hunt, one of the owners of FC Dallas, endorsed Messi’s arrival in Major League Soccer: “It’s the biggest hit in league history.. Sometimes in life you need these moments. We needed that David Beckham moment, to really push the league forward.”

“It’s like watching Michael Jordan”Hunt said. “You’re looking at one of the two greatest players of all time in that experience. So yeah, this is a great moment for FC Dallas if it happens on Sunday.”

Hunt co-owns FC Dallas with his older brother, Clark. They also co-own the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs along with their two other siblings, Sharron and Lamar Jr.

Hunt will be able to admire all of Messi’s talent this Sunday, when his FC Dallas hosts Inter Miami for the round of 16 of the Leagues Cup.

Messi played his last match against Orlando City, his classic rival, for the Leagues Cup round of 36. The match, which took place at the DRV PNK Stadium, ended with a 3-1 victory in favor of Inter Miami. The ten of the Argentina team was the key figure, scoring two of the team’s three goals.
