Generative AIs like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard can deliver fascinating results and in many cases they are extremely practical. At Samsung, however, people are much more skeptical. However, the Koreans are not worried about the jobs or the employees, there are fears that company secrets could be leaked via AI.
How Bloomberg reported, Samsung issued a sweeping AI ban after employees uploaded sensitive source code to a platform like ChatGPT. Yesterday Monday, Samsung informed its employees about this new policy. Not only is the company concerned that this data could fall into the wrong hands, but also that it resides on external servers where access to it may be difficult or impossible to regain.
Samsung employees rely on AIs several times
This is a sequence of several incidents: in one case, a Samsung employee wanted the AI to summarize the notes he took during a meeting, in another, a programmer wanted the artificial intelligence to review the code he was writing or optimized. Samsung writes to its employees: “Interest in generative AI platforms like ChatGPT has grown internally and externally. While this interest focuses on the usefulness and efficiency of these platforms, there are also growing concerns about the security risks posed by generative AI. ”
However, this only affects computers, smartphones and tablets as well as networks used in the company. However, this has no effect on the devices and services of users.
