Hassan Emilio Kabande Laijabetter known as Featherweight (24), has come to music as a revolution. In recent months his name has appeared on the charts around the world, and his songs have become veritable anthems.
He was born in 1999 in the municipality of Zapopan, in Jalisco, Mexico, being his paternal family of Lebanese descent. And he quickly began to take steps in music, starting to play the guitar at the age of 15 and watching YouTube videos, and being his entry into the world between 2020 and 2021. But, It has already been in 2023 when his name has grown remarkably in the industry.
‘She dances alone’, ‘At night (Remix)’, ‘PRC’, ‘La bebé’, ‘Chanel’, and even ‘Session #55′ with Bizarrapare just some of the singles with which he has succeeded, and now he has released his new album, ‘Genesis‘, of which he points out in an interview with Apple Music that “it is only the beginning of this new era, not only in the music industry for us as a group, as a band, but for the entire industry, for the entire Mexican industry . 15 songs of pure corrido lying down, with a catchy voice that hooks you from beginning to end. Featherweight is cheerful, transmits ‘buenrollísmo’, and above all hooks with his songs. Some songs that he hopes you like: “Right now, my priority is my album, to 100%. I also want people to support him 100%. As the road goes, I’ll just go with the flow after my first professional record.”
And it is that the Mexican artist not only talks about his album, but about the “golden age” that Latin music is experiencing: “I think that We are living in a golden age where many young talents are starting to climb in this industry.. I am very happy that I am not the only young man who is already having all this success; I am very happy for all those urban Latin music artists who are putting their flags and our Hispanic music on top of the world”.
Your authenticity, the real key to your success
Now, how has success come to Featherweight? Very simple: by its authenticity. “All the places I grew up influence my music, of course, and the way I dress, sing and act.. I think that it is the authenticity that there is that people find very special, and I think that is what the public likes the most ”, he added.
Such has been this success that it has achieved sell out their current US tour, something that I did not think: “It has been incredible, amazing so far. Tickets have been sold out in all cities, we are very excited to have the whole country on tour (…) I think everything is getting very crazy. It’s getting global that everywhere I go, it sells out, thank goodness”.
