The dismissal of Matheus Fernandes is still expensive for FC Barcelona a few years later. As the Spanish radio station ‘SER Catalunya’ and the Brazilian branch of ‘TNT Sports’ both report, the Catalans have to pay the 24-year-old professional footballer compensation of 8.5 million euros. In 2021, Barcelona dissolved the midfielder’s working paper.

The current Palmeiras player is therefore faced with a late payment. Fernandes’ lawyers even demanded 14.8 million euros in court because of the “moral damage”that her client suffered. The sum of 8.5 million that the Brazilian has now been awarded is made up of missed wages and a penalty for the Catalans. The former U-national player’s contract would normally not have expired until 2025.
