The Dortmunder Mayday festival has been one of the top meeting places of the electronic music scene for many years. In 2022 the Mayday celebrated its 30th anniversary. For 14 hours, the Dortmund Westfalenhallen are transformed into a huge indoor rave.

Rock Hard Festival 2023 in Gelsenkirchen: advance sales are already running
The magazine of the same name “rock hard” celebrates its 40th anniversary with the festival – as always, the event will take place in the Gelsenkirchen amphitheater. Metal fans from all over Europe are expected again.
Electro music in Münster: Docklands Festival
The Day Festival Docklands has been attracting electronic fans to Münster for over ten years. There will be a day of partying on various stages – again in 2023.
NRW Festivals 2023: Dreamtime Festival in the North Landscape Park
That Dreamtime Festival takes place in a very special atmosphere between old blast furnaces and the history of the Ruhr area: in the Landscape Park Duisburg-Nord.

Festival for hip-hop and reggae fans: The Summerjam 2023 at Fühlinger See
That Summer jam is one of the largest festivals in NRW – and will take place as usual in 2023 at the Fühlinger See in Cologne. Relaxed beats are on the program here: the line-up is filled with numerous hip-hop and reggae greats.

Smag Sundance Open Air Festival Essen 2023
That Smag Sundance Festival has long established itself at Lake Baldeney. Open-air with a beach feeling is celebrated to electronic sounds.
Parookaville Festival in Weeze 2023 – one of the highlights
For many festival fans, that is Parookaville probably the absolute highlight of the summer: In 2023 it will take place for the seventh time at the airport in Weeze. With 75,000 visitors a day, the festival set a new record in 2022. The first acts have also been fixed for some time – the line-up for 2023 includes one top-class artist after the next.

Festivals in NRW 2023: Ruhr Reggae Summer
The festival in Mülheim is one of the smaller ones, but has been a fixture for reggae fans from all over Germany for years. In a family atmosphere “Ruhr Reggae Summer” celebrated for three days – all under the motto “Love, Peace & Music”.

Tent festival Ruhr in Bochum 2023
In the late summer this is possible Tent Festival Ruhr at the Kemnader See with its 14th edition at the start. For 17 days there is a program of music, comedy and cabaret in the heart of the Ruhr area. And this year a prominent addition to the line-up has been announced: rapper Marteria will be there on the first Saturday of the festival (August 19).
- Date: August 18 – September 3
- Tickets: Admission to the entire outdoor area costs 5 euros, concert tickets must be purchased separately. With the ZfR card there is free entry to the site on all 17 days (excluding the tents). More information is available online.

Festivals in NRW: San Hejmo Festival in Weeze 2023
2022 celebrated the new Festival “San Hejmo” premiere at Weeze Airport – and with it such a great success that it will be repeated this year and even extended by one day. The line-up for San Hejmo is also peppered with music greats for 2023.
