WhatsApp is trying hard to launch new features that are already present in its competitors. We recently saw that Meta is working on the username feature and today WABetaInfo reports that the app should also gain screen sharing function soon.

The option to share the screen is integrated into video calls in WhatsApp and was released with the release of beta version 2.23.11.19 of WhatsApp to testers on the Google Play Store.

As we can see in the WABetaInfo screenshots, there is now a new button to share the screen during an ongoing video call. Tapping it opens the Android permission box to start casting your screen to other call participants.

It is worth mentioning that screen sharing may not work on cell phones with old versions of Android and that do not have the WhatsApp application updated.

Another change present in this version of WhatsApp is the order of the tabs at the bottom of the screen, which are now as follows from left to right: chats, calls, communities and status.

There is still no forecast for the release of the feature in the stable version of the application or on iOS, but it is expected to be released to more users in the coming weeks.
