A fire completely destroyed a house and partially affected two others in the town of Puerto Iguazú.

The dramatic event took place this afternoon, around 5:00 p.m., when the fire started in a wooden house located on Facundo Quiroga street, in the Belén neighborhood of the city of Las Cataratas. The raging fire affected three families, in one of which a person with a disability resides.

According to preliminary data, the incident would have originated from a short circuit. The neighbors indicated that they were without electricity and after the service was restored, the house began to catch fire.

The neighbors denounced that the tension was higher than normal and added to the high temperatures would have caused the combustion. It should be noted that the causes of the fire are under investigation.

The volunteer firefighters came with several teams and when they saw that the first house was almost completely consumed, they worked to prevent the spread of the fire to the neighboring houses and managed to control the situation. One of them was consumed by 50 percent and the other by 20 percent.

Neighbors helped by carrying water with buckets from a neighbor’s pool. Quickly, they started a solidarity collection in the neighborhood to assist the affected families.
