A fire broke out at the online supermarket Picnic during the night. Several electric vans burned in a hall in Bochum-Langendreer.

The Bochum fire brigade responded to a fire at the Picnic food delivery service during the night. Around 3 a.m., a caller reported a burning vehicle in a large warehouse in Langendreer, a fire department spokesman reported on request. When the emergency services arrived, several of the small picnic electric vans had already caught fire. “There was a fair amount of smoke and fire,” said the fire department spokesman.

The extinguishing measures had worked well, the fire was already under control by 4 a.m. About 50 emergency services were on site. An alarm via the warning app NINA was not triggered “because of the quick extinguishing success”.

After the fire was under control, firefighters focused on securing the other electric vans. The spokesman estimates that there were about 20 in the hall. Six of them would have burned.

Currently, the electric vehicles affected by the fire have to be cooled in front of the hall so that they do not catch fire again. The hall was also damaged, “but it was not a total loss”.

The police are now investigating the cause of the fire. (soho)
