Fire destroys house in Los Banos; fireworks would be the cause

LOS BANOS, California – A house destroyed and three others partially damaged leaves a fire in Los Banos, and the one that was apparently caused by illegal fireworks.

On the night of July 2, Los Banos firefighters moved to the 1000 block of Acaciawood Ct. to put out the flames in a house.

Two other houses on Parkwood Drive had been hit by fire when emergency crews arrived.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and were able to search the property.

Officers found evidence of illegal fireworks, not stamped “safe and sane” properly, and that the home’s occupants left when police and fire departments arrived in the area.

“They found numerous aerial fireworks inside the residence,” officials stressed, however, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fireworks that do not have the “safe and sane” logo are completely illegal in Los Banos, and in California. Anyone caught carrying one of them risks a citation and a $1,250 fine.

Those who handle fireworks must have a bucket of water to put the fireworks in once used. This way you can avoid a tragedy.
