First charging station for electric trucks opens in CDMX

According to the authorities of the Government of Mexico City and Model groupthis first charging station for electric trucks is located in the cologne doctorsof the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office.

During the opening, Claudia Sheinbaum, head of the CDMX Government, said that her administration prioritizes Electromobility as the Metrobus line 3which is 100% electric, as well as the Elevated Trolleybus and the renewal of 500 trolleybuses.

“Today we are inaugurating, together with Grupo Modelo, this first station for electric charging trucks… we are very proud to be a city that is at the forefront of electromobility worldwide,” said Sheinbaum.

“Reduces polluting emissions that cause respiratory problems; also decreases noise, because electric vehicles do not produce noise; and also reduces emissions greenhouse gases that cause global climate change,” he said.

For his part, Cassiano De Stefanopresident of Grupo Modelo, stated that the company’s commitment is to invest in green logistics and electromobility.

“Today is a very important day for Model group because it gives us the opportunity to honor our word and our commitment to promote initiatives that protect the country’s environment, starting here, with the Mexico City, that it is our home and it will always be”, he affirmed.

De Stefano explained that each unit is 100% electric, which have a motor, batteries and chassis designed. All trucks are developed by BYD company.

In addition, they have a hybrid aluminum body manufactured by the Mexican company Manufacturas Industriales GAMI, together with other 11 companies working for infrastructure developmenttelematics and artificial intelligence.

He said that, through this mobility alternative, Grupo Modelo contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissionswhich represents a 40% reduction compared to a conventional truck, and is equivalent to the environmental benefit they provide 425 trees per year.

The company’s plans for this 2023 include the opening of another two charging stations for heavy-duty electric vehicles, one in the Oceania Agencyin the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office, and another one in the Saint Paul Agencyin Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico.

He explained that the green logistics strategy is aligned with the sustainability goals of Model group heading to 2025.
