The first tests of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have arrived! the latest game from Respawn Entertainment is one of the most anticipated of this beginning of the year, and the first opinions are rather unanimous, we are dealing here with a very good Star Wars game. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is Star Wars at its best. A thrilling adventure with a stellar cast, clever and expansive combat, and huge worlds to explore. Performance issues aside, this is easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made and it only makes us want to read more tales of the adventures of Cal Kestis and BD-1. The test was carried out on PS5.

For Star Wars fans and lovers of action-adventure games, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a great continuation of the series. It’s packed with references and other minor elements that paint a wonderful and complete picture of the galaxy far, far away, and the gameplay is simply an improvement on Fallen Order’s outstanding formula. It’s not perfect, both in terms of performance and main storytelling, but considering that 2023 has been largely marked by excellent AAA remakes so far, Survivor is one of the best titles really new that we have seen this year. The technical performance of Survivor is a stumbling block that should be highlighted. While playing on Xbox Series X, I encountered random crashes on several occasions, all annoying during cutscenes before the game had time to autosave. On one unlucky (and deeply frustrating) occasion, the game crashed during the scene following a particularly difficult multi-phase boss fight, which I had taken many attempts to defeat. Because of the crash, my progress was lost and I had to fight the boss half a dozen times again, earning a victory that felt a lot more hollow than the first time I beat it. On PlayStation 5, a colleague reported occasional stuttering, screen tearing, and crashing. The PC version also has various technical issues related to game presentation, performance, and hardware optimization.
Survivor builds on Fallen Order in a number of significant ways, tightening up combat mechanics, expanding the variety of lightsaber styles, easing platforming and puzzle frustration, and digging into the less common story. of Star Wars to tell the fantastic story of a Jedi who tries to defeat a tyrannical evil at all costs and who realizes that one cannot simply fight for the good – one must fight for the good of the proper way. It’s a superb Star Wars game that goes into great detail about a Jedi Knight’s struggle to rise to the rank of master.

In summary, the fights of Jedi: Survivor are neither here nor there, neither satisfied by explosive power feedback, nor by the fantasy of precise personal skill in the face of terrible odds. Add to that the approach to the design – the platforming, the gardening, the building of a colony and the brand new shops for spending the collectibles – and you get a disappointing picture. Especially when those collectibles, with the lightsaber colors and stances given to you by default, rather than the most exciting discoveries you might make as a reward for your exploration, just don’t taste quite the same. than in Fallen Order.

It’s been ages since we’ve been treated to a great single-player Star Wars action game, but Jedi: Fallen Order is making up for lost time. Fast-paced and challenging combat mixes with energetic platforming, decent puzzles, and diverse locations to explore to make for a truly extraordinary game.
