Floridians pay more for gas during July 4th week

MIAMI.- The rise in prices in recent weeks will not be an obstacle for 3.9 million Floridians to travel by road in celebration of the 4th of July, who will pay even more expensive fuel than a year ago.

Gasoline prices in Florida averaged $3.36 a gallon, two cents more than the previous week and nine cents more than a year ago.

“While we’ve seen some price swings in recent weeks, they’re likely not significant enough to impact people’s travel plans,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA The Auto Club Group, noting that “gas prices remain quite volatile as 3.9 million Floridians prepare to hit the road for Independence Day.”

Jenkins explained that oil prices have stabilized, “something that should limit any significant increases at the pumps in the coming days.”

In Miami-Dade, this Monday, July 1, regular gasoline is priced at $3.37 per gallon, the median at $3.76, while the special gasoline reaches $4.01 per gallon.

The cheapest gas in the state is found in areas of Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.15), Pensacola ($3.16) and Panama City ($3.20).

While it costs more to refuel in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.51), Gainesville ($3.45) and Naples ($3.43).

In the last week, the price of gasoline nationwide increased 5 cents to $3.49 per gallon.
